NaNoWriMo2018: Ei rajoja / No limits

In English Below

Olen väsynyt kirjoittamiseen. Kun tavoitteena on tietty sanamäärä eikä esimerkiksi valmiiksi hiottu teksti, työstä tulee teknistä ja puuduttavaa. Juuri nyt ei ole hauskaa. Haluaisin editoida ja rakentaa tekstistä palapeliä. Lineaarinen kirjoittaminen on jäänyt kohdallani historiaan syystä.

Poika parka.

I’m tired of writing. When you aim at a certain amount of words and not for finished text, the work becomes technical and dull. Right now it’s not fun. I’d like to edit and build the story like a puzzle. I don’t do linear writing for a reason.

The amount of words fails to make me happy. Every word is just a splash, a rusty nail on my story’s coffin. I know I will finish NaNoWriMo, but I no longer enjoy.

Writing should never be like this.

On Tuesday, I reach half-way through, but I forget to celebrate. I realize that 50,000 words are not enough for a full adventure.

I’ll let Eemil meet his father just to make him experience the loss again. Poor boy.

NaNoWriMo2018: Riittävän hyvä / Good enough

In English Below

Mikä on minulle riittävän hyvää?

Perusviikko tekstin kanssa. Riittävät sanamäärät.  Uusia oivalluksia tarinaan.

Lasken sanoja. Välillä lasken merkkejä, kun unohdan laskea sanoja.

Opettelen uuden tekniikan ja katkaisen sanamäärän itselleni määräämään sanalukuun, vaikka kesken lauseen. Ei sovi minulle. Jää vaivaamaan pahalla tavalla.

Kirjoitan. Valutan sanoja sormista näppäimistölle, sieltä ruudulle.

Olen kone.

Kirjoituskone.

Lucas pettää Eemilin. Olekilta puuttuu edelleen sielu. Saatan olla rakastunut Verne Wellsin hahmoon. MIksi aina pahikseen?

In English:

What is good enough for me?

Basic week with text. Enough words. New insights into the story. Knowledge of the fact that I need to change a lot in the story to make it work.

I Count words. Sometimes I count characters when I forget to count words.

I learn a new technique and stop writing when I reach the certain amount of words, even if it would be in the middle of the sentence. Not suitable technique for me. It haunts me in a bad way.

I am writing. I drain the words from my fingers to the keyboard and all the way to the screen.

I am a machine.

A typewriter.

Lucas betrays Eemil. Olek is still lacking some soul. I may be in love with Verne Wells’ character. Why I always fall for the villain?

NaNoWriMo2018: kauhuviikko / Week of horror

In English Below

Tarinassa on edetty lähemmäs olennaista.

The first full week of November could be titled as a week of horror.

The writer’s worst nightmare is the situation where everything else comes before writing. Work, other duties, and life, in general, made writing impossible this week, and therefore the word count was zero on most of the days. Fortunately, one good writing day saved me from marking zero as the total word count of the week.

The lesson of the week is that you must allow yourself to write and make time for it. I always say that writing is the most important thing in my life, but why doesn’t it show in my actions? I am a lousy scheduler, but perhaps I need to start to reserve some slots from my calendar just for writing. I accept all good tips how to schedule my writing.

The story is moving closer to action. Eemil, the boy with the clockwork heart, is just about to get aboard on airship Aura and meet its peculiar crew. However, like all beginnings of great adventures, it won’t be easy.
